Liberation

Liberation:

Bold dramatic linework in Parker's marks a journey of one's life energy. How lines sing with movement, how they connect with others. Gaining wisdom, spirit from interacting with colorful abstracts we meet along the way. A life described with energy and boldness, a line in time. In the beginning of relationships, the loops are wide, loose, full of lighthearted energy. As we move forward our energy becomes tight in our attempt to understand one another while defending ourselves. Slowly trust relaxes the line, finding compositional balance, we resolve our inner conflicts and strengthen our relationships. Avante Tower of Trident Properties, Dubai Marina. Featured at Mondo Arte Gallery, Mall of Emirates June 2009.

Live Here:

Today's generation are growing up with a more sophisticated knowledge about the environment. The kindergarten student draws the typical long grass, winding path landscape of their home. But who lives there anymore? Not our generation, and probably not our children's.
“We have not inherited the world from our forefathers â€" we have borrowed it from our children.”

Vancouver Sun

Vancouver Sun:

Putting art in its place by Mia Stainsby

Karen Lorena Parker will create a painting perfectly suited for the place you want to hang it.

"I try to create the perfect painting for a space. You can go to a gallery and love something but it might be the wrong size or colour. I help to design and fine-tune paintings for clients,"she says. "I want my art to live in the space, to be perfect for that space. I want my art to be in the home for people to enjoy.

"Artists frame their work so it can be better appreciated and looks better on the wall," she says. "I think it's part of our culture to want to coordinate colour and design. We're design savvy. If a painting clashes with the surroundings, it would be hard to live with. I've had gallery owners tell me people should buy art because it speaks to you, that you should renovate your house around art work. I say adding a green highlight to a painting doesn't change it."

Put people on a lie-detector and many would say they want a painting that looks good in their home and admit to wanting it to match their decor, and possibly, their sofa.

Front and inside cover available by request.

Karen Lorena Parker
Internationally known artist Karen Lorena Parker has exhibited in Vancouver, New York and Dubai. Her work is also distributed by Canadian Art Prints. Featured in corporate collections, private collections and showhomes, she is a designer favorite. Inspired by the Group of Seven and their illustrative sense of design and composition, her nature-inspired work is luminescent and well planned. She finds beauty in the collective memory, the romantic places we have all been.

Her atmospheric abstract paintings, her landscapes, contemporary florals or aviation capture the viewer emotionally. Her technical interest in painting is expressed in many subjects as she pursues the beauty of light as it refracts and reflects in organic natural patterns. Her contemporary work is graphic, atmospheric, expressive, with depth and range.

She teaches at Dubai Community Arts and Theatre Center, contributes to charities, and is a member of the national arts group Night of Artists.

Born in Chile, Karen Lorena Parker received her BFA in Calgary, and moved to beautiful British Columbia. She currently resides in Dubai, UAE.

Copper Storm

Copper Storm:

Returning from a trip to Taiwan, inspired this series of crisp clean Canadian Skies. The beginning of my contemporary landscapes, layered in fragile, matte tempera. Following Copper Storm was: Prairie Storm, Gentle Skies, Copper Trees and Red Squamish Trees. These were the few done in this medium as I transition to layered gloss instead for further exploration of light through clouds and trees.

Stormy coastal drama combined with the peaceful windswept prairies. This gentle blue sky shows the beauty and depth of the prairie landscape. Subtle details on the horizon line include trees, farms and buildings. Giclee prints distributed internationally through CasaPublishing.com.
